The developers of the proposed apartment block in Sherman Road have applied for an exemption from undertaking a full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). You can read their submission document here (PDF 487 Kb) and comment about this issue on the LBB planning portal here. Bromley Council will need to make a decision by 2nd November, so if you want to respond, you will have to be quick.
Building height
They state that the change in height has the potential to change the existing townscape character and quality but that unacceptable impacts will be mitigated wherever possible by virtue of the design process itself and the careful attention that will be given to the design of the new buildings and the public realm.
Parking
There is likely to be extremely limited parking for the new residents of the 203 new apartments. The application predicts very low levels of vehicle movements would be associated with the development. Other “low car use” developments in Bromley town centre such as that at Ringer’s Road has seen local parking demand surge and existing struggle to park their cars.
Other infrastructure impacts (such as on school places) will be mitigated through a payment to the Local Authority.
