Over 55 local residents attended the 2018 AGM at Community House on Monday 19th March.
The agenda included a short presentation from Cllr. Peter Morgan, Portfolio Holder for Renewal and Recreation, on the future of Bromley North.
Key Points:
- There are increasing pressures on the Borough from the Mayor’s Office to build an increasing number of new homes.
- There are restraints on building on Green Belt land.
- Due to the multiple ownership of land on the Bromley North site, there were some limits as to how much the Council could shape development. TfL or Network Rail might be better placed to lead on the project with LBB as partners.
- Developers BeLiving (proposers of a 23-storey scheme in Sherman Road) were seen as utterly disinterested in genuine dialogue with local interests or restraining their proposals to community feedback. It is believed that they fully expected their proposals to be turned down by the Council and would be relying on winning on appeal.
- The most useful action that residents can take at this stage is to object (online and in writing) to ad-hoc planning applications as they arrive.
Many local businesses and individuals have generously donated prizes for our fundraising raffle including. These include:
- Tickets to Cirque Berserk and The Importance of Being Earnest from the Churchill Theatre, Bromley
- Dinner for two from The Railway Tavern, East St, Bromley North
- Ironing services from Pressed for Time, Sundridge Park
- Training from Progressive Fitness, Sundridge Park
- Cream tea for two from the Lavender House Cafe, Sundridge Park
- Voucher from Sundridge Coffee, Sundridge Park
- Treatments from Beauty Above, East Street, Bromley North.
Many thanks to them for their support, we raised £191 on the night which will help pay for printing costs and hire of halls for our public meetings.
